POLYWOOD & EcoBricks
The POLYWOOD UK team are getting behind Eco Bricks!
Haven’t heard of it? Type ‘EcoBricks’ into your browser and you’ll find a wealth of information about how your single use plastics can help build furniture, gardens spaces and structures and much more across the world. This zero-cost solid waste solution is ideal for individuals, households, schools and communities. We at POLYWOOD are committed to decreasing the amount of plastic in circulation; both through our outdoor furniture and within the office.
With awareness of plastic pollution on the rise, EcoBricks has blown up across social media recently, so much so, that ecobricks.org is currently down due to incredibly high traffic to the site.
So what is an Ecobrick?
Also, known as a bottle brick, an Ecobrick is a plastic bottle stuffed with non-biological waste to create a reusable building blocks used to make modular furniture, garden spaces and full-scale buildings such as schools and houses. Some plastic wastes cannot be recycled easily; in fact, a large proportion of our plastic packaging is single use only.
How do you make an Ecobrick?
To make an Ecobrick, simply wash and dry flexible plastic waste and stuff it tightly into a plastic bottle using a stick. Once full the Ecobrick will be as solid as a brick. Replace the lid, collect a number and drop them off at your local drop off location. It’s as simple as that..
It’s shocking how quickly you will fill your plastic bottles! Our world and wildlife is being destroyed by plastics; we, the human race need to step up and take responsibility for our wonderful world.
Here at POLYWOOD we’re as green as we can be. We run our heating off biomass technology and our electricity off our solar panels, which our cars also run off.♻️ We’ve taken the plunge and invested in building a greener company; you can do your bit by building EcoBricks. Just a couple will make a difference to both our environment and those less fortunate.
We’ll be back with our EcoBricks… in the mean time, join the Facebook group ‘EcoBricks UK’ and find your local drop off point.
